W & J PARKER HAS A BUSINESS HERITAGE DATING BACK TO 1893

From a small butchers shop in the 1890’s,W & J Parker has grown in to an international food distribution business. This has allowed us to diversify, buying land, financing real estate and orchestrating commercial and residential building projects at home and abroad.

In 1893 the business was founded when William and Joseph Parker bought a small butchers shop in Belgrave Gate in Leicester.

1920s
Heritage - 1920s

The business was expanded by buying competitors throughout Leicester and the midlands. The wholesale business was expanded when the brothers started supplying competitor butchers’ shops with meat.

1930s

Growth from 1 shop to numerous outlets in Leicester and Midlands. Farms and land acquisition to aid sustainability of meat procurement.
1950s

By the 1950s the company had developed its own distribution network to supply its abattoirs.

1962

1974
Heritage - 1974

The business goes through rapid expansion when it starts to supply the major supermarket chains under the guidance of new Managing Director Bill Parker, Noel Parker’s son.

1980s
Heritage - 1980s

The company helps pioneer retail packed meats for the supermarkets. The company also moves into property investment and development with the sale of land to London and Edinburgh Trust to build Fosse Park.

1990s

2019
Heritage - 2019

The company moves away from day to day involvement in the meat industry to concentrate on expanding and developing its portfolio of commercial and domestic properties, although remain heavily involved in the meat industry through Randall Parker.
